What is RTI?
Response to Intervention (sometimes referred to as "RTI," "response to instruction," or "tiered instruction") is a data-driven, multi-level system of instruction. Universal screening assessments are used to promptly identify students who will benefit from strategic instruction or intensive intervention beyond the core curriculum and instruction. Student progress is regularly monitored to ensure that interventions are effective.
Hopkinton's model for RTI consists of a four-tiered system for general education. At its foundation, tier 1 represents the core, differentiated instruction that all students receive. Some students benefit from short term or targeted instruction to close a learning gap or to address an area of challenge. Other students benefit from more intensive and frequent intervention.
