Welcome to Room 213. I am Mrs. Pendleton and I'll be your teacher this year. We are located in the "Art Room" on the second floor. Don't worry about finding the room - I'll meet you in the gym and bring you up to the classroom on the first day.

You might have some questions about what the first couple of days will be like.  Read these over and if you have other questions you (or your parents) may e-mail me.  Just put room 213 in the subject line so I'll know it's a new student ;)

What should I bring with me on the first day?
Bring your backpack, labeled supplies (I'm sure you have seen the supply list and are all ready!), a snack and a free choice reading book. We will have a "read to self" time everyday so even though I have a classroom library it's good for you to bring in a book you are already reading or that is on your list of books you want to read.  Bring your lunch if you don't buy. If you do buy you will use your same PIN from Elmwood. Come with a smile and positive attitude! I can't wait to meet you!

What are our specials and when are they?
We have a different special throughout the week - music, art, gym (x2), technology, guidance, and library.  You will get a schedule on the first day. On gym days be sure to wear sneakers (or keep a pair at school.)
Will we have homework on the first day?
It's important to begin our new routines right away - so yes, you will have some work to complete at home :) Don't stress out about it - we are all returning from vacation so we'll ease into it!

What our work looks like for the year ahead.

 * Our work in fourth grade is IMPORTANT! *

Believe in yourself!  You must have an I CAN DO IT attitude!  With adequate effort and practice you will be successful!  I will NOT GIVE UP on you. I believe everyone can be successful.  We will be focusing on becoming more independent learners this year.  Learning how to organize our materials, being prepared and ready to learn,  organizing and writing our ideas, speaking in front of an  audience, treating others respectfully, doing our best, and becoming good  listeners are just some of the goals for 4th grade. I will offer the  students an opportunity to express their creativity and unique personalities  through various projects, assignments and classroom activities.  As we make our way through the curriculum we will be learning more about  ourselves and helping each other become confident members of a classroom  community.  My hope is that students will enjoy coming to school each day, accept responsibility for themselves and their obligations, and be  honest with me.   If we all try our best and work together we will have a successful year.  Let's share in our successes and grow with the challenges ahead.
