The Hopkinton High School and Middle School Art Departments are pleased to announce that our students were recognized with an outstanding 33 state level awards in the 2016 Scholastic Art Awards Competition. Student artwork was selected from a field of over 15,000 entries from public, private, regional and arts magnet schools statewide. Award winning pieces were selected based on 3 criteria: originality, technical skill, and personal vision.

In the Massachusetts competition our students earned 5 Gold Keys, 8 Silver Keys, and 20 Honorable Mentions. Gold and Silver Key winners will be recognized at a regional ceremony held on March 12, 2016 at the Museum of Fine Arts, Boston. Gold Key winners' work will be featured at an exhibition at EF Center Boston, Two Education Circle, Cambridge, MA from March 5–20, 2016. In addition to the exhibition, Gold Key works will advance for national judging in New York City.

  • 2016 PSA and Poster Project
"Write the story that you want to tell"

Middlesex County middle and high school students are invited to submit original Public Service Announcements and Posters to the Annual PSA and Poster Project hosted by Middlesex Partnerships for Youth, Inc. and the Middlesex District Attorney's Office.

This year's theme is "Write the story that you want to tell." This theme aims to empower students to reflect on who they are and who they want to become. Self-discovery, confidence, goal-setting, and good decision making are important components of writing your own story - the story only you can tell. The overarching goal of the 2016 PSA & Poster Project is for students to communicate a direct, positive voice to other teens.

Possible topics for the videos and posters include:

Celebrating the differences and unique characteristics among us
    Advocating for social justice
Embracing racial, ethnic, and religious diversity
Knowing who you are and what you stand for is empowering
Being confident in your own skin
Believing in your values and morals- no matter what
Following your passions, even in unexpected ways
Knowing your path through life may not be traditional, but it will be worth it
Trying new things and having varied experiences to help inform who we are
Making good decisions, even in the face of peer pressure
    Remaining drug and alcohol free
Choosing to be kind - in person and online
Leading by example and being an agent of change
    Being an active bystander
Standing up to bullying and cyberbullying
    Practicing good digital citizenship

This project is open to all middle school and high school students who live in or attend school in Middlesex County. Students may enter one or both projects. Videos must be between 30 and 60 seconds long. Posters must be one page and submitted electronically. Please see the attached applications for the official rules and submission requirements for each project.

Click Here for Poster Project Application. Entries are due April 1, 2016.
