Another school year begins (2012-2013). What beautiful weather our children were able to enjoy this summer! I hope our children are embracing the joys of returning. We are certainly ready for them to start.
I want everyone to know how much I have enjoyed my first year in Hopkinton and I want to thank everyone for their warm welcome and ongoing support. It has been a pleasure getting to know the students, families and staff of Hopkinton and I look forward to continuing our work together.
Hopkinton continues to be instrumental in building capacity within our district in relation to technology, software, supplies, and trainings/consultants. Each effort is to support our learners with special needs.
Dr. Ilda Carreiro King will continue her reading initiative of creating a balanced literacy model and refining the tools the district utilizes to determine a reading disability coupled with specific interventions using benchmarks. She continues to work with teachers and will train new staff in district. The staffs’ enthusiasm and reception has been extremely positive.
This year we will be expanding our Life Skills 18-22 year old program. With the addition of our own new van, these students will be able to access vocational, community and recreation sites on a daily basis.
An Evening with the Director of Student Services (Marijane Hackett) will be Thursday, September 27, 2012 in the MS Library from 7:00-9:00 PM and welcome each of you to attend.
